"Unthinking respect for authority is the greatest enemy of truth"  -Albert Einstein- Drawing on his numerous degrees in the sciences, Perspective author Nathan Shasho offers a new perspective on the nature and history of humans. Through lenses as diverse as anthropology and chemistry, neuropsychology and astronomy, geology and physics, readers delve into the evolution of the universe, earth, and humans. This includes humanity's "dark side" of conflict, war, genocide, massacres, slavery, and human trafficking. Rather than leaving readers grasping at the pieces, Shasho then puts all this history into perspective and formulates a way of making sense of it all. He offers a light along the path to critical thinking.  Appropriate for readers as young as seniors in high school, Perspective makes a useful complement to high school and college curricula as well as an interesting piece for adultsseeking a way out of propaganda and indoctrination.  "Truth is incontrovertible. Panic may resent it, ignorance may deride it, malice may distort it, but there it is."   -Winston Churchill-

From the Author

  • "In this modern political climate, the consent of  "the people" is being lost to the influence of bankers, lawyers, lobbyists, and corporations, who are running our country like an oligarchy. The will of the people should be the basis of all authority of government, and fundamentally, this is the principle we have lost."  - Andy Ostrowski
Critical thinking is not a subject that is taught in educational systems and is the most important tool we can learn to protect our freedom and rights. Propaganda and indoctrination have been used for thousands years to control us. Corruption has found it's way into almost every aspect of modern life with the use of propaganda and public ignorance. Our freedoms are being eroded from the inside out as our forefathers feared it would. Your power to change the world is not trying to change somebody else, but to simply become informed and take the money out of politics.
  • "To live in the world without becoming aware of the meaning of the world is like wandering about in a great library without touching the books."

From the Inside Flap "Education is not the learning of facts, but the training of the mind to think"  -Albert Einstein

  • Bigotry is the stubborn and complete intolerance of any creed, belief, or opinion that differs from one's own.
  • Racism is the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races.
  • Discrimination is treatment or consideration of, or making a distinction in favor of or against, a person or thing based on the group, class, or category to which that person or thing belongs rather than on individual merit.
  • Prejudice is an unfavorable opinion or feeling formed beforehand or without knowledge, thought, or reason; it is any preconceived opinion or feeling, favorable or unfavorable, comprising of unreasonable feelings, opinions, or attitudes, especially of a hostile nature, regarding an ethnic, racial, social, or religious group.
  • Oppression is the unjust or cruel exercise of authority or power.
  • None of the above behaviors can exist if we want to live a life free of conflict.....

If he had been my history/science professor, I would not have ended up a nightclub singer.I look forward to his next book.I look forward to his next book.

The author guides you through the history of the universe, our planet, and the evolution of the human species. He then offers historical evidence of the dark side of human behavior dating back to the very beginning of our evolutionary history. The history suggests that we have always been an extremely aggressive species and still are given the state of the world today. He doesn't leave you hanging there. The author gives a plausible explanation of human behavior and the reason for our aggression using history, evolution, and micro-biology to make "sense of it all". In the end he offers hope that we may be able to stop the small percentage of humans that have controlled our history. The humans responsible for creating wars, genocide, corruption, crime, and the many dark behaviors of mankind. By way of explaining the importance of critical thinking, and understanding the importance of an informed and educated public Shasho hopes that we will be able to stop those who control our city states and countries by becoming aware of the power of indoctrination, propaganda and corruption.
