3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Alexander the Mediocre By Joseph E. Demartino Awful. Ill-written, badly copy-edited and as shallow a a petri dish. I made it through one chapter, then skimmed the rest of the book to see if it got any better. It didn't. I believe reading it actually left me know less about Alexander than I did before.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. but it was like reading a school book By Steve Woodburn I'm not sure what I was expecting, but the writing in this book was very sophomoric, which leads me to believe that possibly this is written for a young audience? I did learn about Alexander and his times, but it was like reading a school book. I recommend the book for basic background, but don't look for it to be anything more than that.

I understand that much of the events described happened before a cohesive written history, however; there are spelling and grammatical errors galore and the fall of the Macedonian Empire is less than fully explored.
