Only an excerpt By Billablog I was looking forward to this series of Short Blacks but was somewhat disappointed to discover that this edition is in fact an excerpt from Appeasing Jakarta: Australia's Complicity in the East Timor Tragedy, JB's Quarterly Essay from 2001.Not that it isn't a powerful report on the murder and corruption that surrounded East Timor's independence, but I'd rather read it in the context of the full essay.
